Collect all the rings to advance to the next level. Levels are split into 6 zones each with 10 levels, the 10th level will be guarded by Robotnik. Complete a zone in under 20 minutes to be awarded a Chaos emerald, there are 6 to collect. Jumping on or spinning into enemy robots will free the captured animals inside them. An extra life is awarded for freeing a selected number of animals. When battling Robotnik all rings must be collected before he can be defeated.
